Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella

Black Widow as Cinderella

Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella
Scarlett Johansson portrays "Cinderella" in a 2007 photo by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. This was part of a continuing campaign by Disney to promote their theme parks.

As a true princess, Scarlett wears a stunning, one-of-a-kind Harry Winston tiara — a dazzling piece in platinum with more than 62 carats of sparkling diamonds and valued at $325,000. The dress worn by Johansson is a custom-made, Cinderella-inspired gown designed by Nicoletta Santoro. Now that is the proper way to honor a princess.

I admit that I am a bit disappointed with this photograph, against all odds and almost certainly unlike just about everyone else. It isn't that Scarlett was a poor choice, no, far from it. However, when you get someone as attractive and renowned as Scarlett, don't you think it would be wise to focus on her, and not the generic castle? Scarlett hardly is shown to her best advantage in this photograph, and unless you see a huge resolution of this shot, "Cinderella" here could be just about anyone.

Yes, I realize that this is a promo for the castle, but you can't really make out Scarlett very well, at least enough to distinguish her from just about any other actress that could have filled this role. And, believe me, just about any actress could have. My quibble is not with Scarlett, who looks marvelous as always, but instead with the shot set-up... Annie.
