Persona 4 The Golden Animation - Episode 1. It is July 10th, and as we noted here previously, that is the day they released "Persona 4 The Golden Animation."

So, here it is, episode 1. Above is a version with subtitles, below a version without them for purists.

I'm not trying to promote this show or anything like that. It's fun to get a glimpse of current anime, though, just to see what those guys are up to. The process of creating tv anime involves real artistry, though it is easy to be put off by the video-game-like background music (this does derive from a game, of course) and sometimes campy voices, such as that of the professor.

Here, we are introduced to the main characters and the concept of the midnight movie as the starting point for adventure. In fact, televisions, in general, have a certain magical quality to them in the world of "Persona 4 The Golden Animation."

You don't have to be a fan of the video game to enjoy this, but it helps. This essentially is a remake of the first series, but if you didn't see that, then it is completely new to you.

Some of the background music is either another version of Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" (the classic music video featured a dancing Christopher Walken), or it is quite a close composition. I have included the video for "Weapon of Choice" below if you feel like comparing (or just want to watch the video again!).

Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice."

I think it's pretty close, myself.
