Bizarre Animation from Patagonia about Duck Feathers

Patagonia, "What the Pluck?" from Moving Colour on Vimeo.

This is an explanatory video from Patagonia, the jacket company, showing how their use of down feathers in their jackets is not harmful to the ducks they take them from.

Actually, well, it is harmful to the ducks. The ducks wind up dead. However, the video shows that this is done quite humanely because it involves only using "100% traceable down."

Now, if that makes you scratch your head, maybe you should watch the video!

It is a very odd little production. In fact, it is probably the weirdest animation on this site. For reason alone, it is worth posting and viewing. And, incidentally, music doesn't get any finer than 'Fear the Reaper" from Blue Oyster Cult.

From the youtube page:

To ensure the humane treatment of birds that supply us with down, as of fall 2014 Patagonia uses only 100% Traceable Down. We trace it from farm to factory to make sure the birds that supplied it was never force-fed or live-plucked, and that our down is never blended with down from sources we can’t trace. The Traceable Down Standard provides the highest assurance of animal welfare in the apparel industry so you can stay warm in good conscience. Learn more at patagonia.com/traceabledown
